Baby nephew's quilt

Our family was blessed with two nephews this Summer, and one of them received this quilt.
It was a fast turnaround as it had to be packed in my mother's suitcase and head to Alberta. So fast that I only got these crappy photos :)

The quilt was inspired by this quilt:

And I used this pattern for the sailboats:
http://quilting.about.com/od/babyquiltpatterns/ss/sailboats-baby-quilt-pattern.htm

It's larger than a crib blanket, but not quite a twin, it should grow with him for a while.

Long time in the making

Remember years ago when I made yoga mat bags?
A friend asked if I could make her a special one, of course I said yes, but I don't think either of us thought it would take this long.
The fabric is Riley Blake's Pieces of hope.
But long story short, it's done.
I can't say I enjoy making them.
I was however impressed with this one when it was finished. RARE.
I was playing with my free motion quilting foot, and it turned out okay.
I have a pattern in a book somewhere, but I've never made that one.
It's just a design from my head.
IF I ever make anymore I think I would add another pocket.
Enjoy!

On the sticks

Phew.
Always something on the sticks.
I've been knitting up a storm.

Getting Miss B's cropped cardigan and Christmas gifts ready to go.
I even have something for myself on the go, a rare event.

Sweet baby boy cards

Hey,
Here are two more cards I made (for my family to send) for a new baby in our family. My favourite card I've made in a long time is this one:
It's just so adorable.
I also really enjoyed this one:
Both using Stampin' Up stamps.
Enjoy!

Oh baby!

It's wonderful to go into check on your work schedule and get an extra week off.
It's freaking awesome.
So while I bake cookies I'm able to post some of my cards sent to my newest little nephew.
Honestly, I've had that lion for 10 years, close on 11. This card came together quick with precut frame, Bella Blvd. stickers/flag, and scraps.
This card was fun, great to mix my quilting and paper crafting with scrap paper.
Tomorrow I'll post two more I made for family to send.
Enjoy!

Keep going

Hey all!
Yesterday you saw me take on some blocks to use up fabric.
Sorting bins later today to find sashing and border fabric while putting my stash away.

This morning my sewing buddy (PFK) and I are creating blocks with my Tim Holtz fabric by Coates.

Thanks to www.inthecatcave.com Cathy for my birthday gift last year :)

Determined.

I am determined to use or share the items I've been hoarding for years, especially fabric given to me by The Grannies that they've hoarded for years, and go through and trim out the excess stuff that has created the mess of my 'temporary' offices/rooms.
I cannot let this new fabulous room that you've yet to see become an unruly mess.
It's my peaceful place.
I have to take care of it.
Here goes!
This is a Moda Gatherings kit that was given to me by my Granny, and someone had given it to her.
The instructions may be missing.
You know me, patterns schmatterns.

Sew Busy

The rush is on to finish my newest nephew's quilt.
Been busy getting it done, tomorrow is deadline.
Loving every minute!
I wish I was going to see both of my newest nephews soon, I haven't met them yet.
My little buddy keeps FaceTime with me and shows me his baby brother.

Enjoy!

New Fabric

I must admit I've been buying and gathering new fabrics.
 Plenty of them.
Just a few from my current project:

I think I went into sewing withdrawals. Now that my studio and spare room are near complete, it's time to sort fabrics into drawers.
However, the bins are stogged away into spare room closet and stacks in the basement utility room. Plus my gift certificate to Wave Creations from Christmas still.
So I've just HAD to buy more!
And was promptly given two more bags from Granny.
I plan to only keep a basket of new or favourite fabrics in the studio itself, the rest into two dressers of the spare room.
Wish me luck?
Enjoy!

Missy B's Doll Tea Party

Miss B and I had planned a tea party to celebrate the end of the school year, but it had to be postponed to the end of Summer. It turned out to be a great way to start the school year. We still have two weeks before they go back, but still.
The kids and I made play food in advance with help from Dad.
We turned these:

Into this:
Crayola air dry clay into:

White glue and shot glass drinks, that really will take more than three days to dry in this humidity.
B's doll ice cream creations:

I had made duct tape shoes and sandals from a few pins. Had to make a few more the day of for folks with different feet than B's. But quick and fairly easy.

I laid out tarps, then blankets, coffee tables and end tables with table cloths. Large plastic wine glasses with ribbon tied name tags.

The girls had fun, and that was the most important thing.
They didn't need my interference to play.
There was even a dead mouse to keep them occupied.
Seriously.
I did tell them not to touch it with their hands, lol.
We have cats, so the occasional dead mouse turns up in our yard.
 It happens.

Please check out my tea party album here on Pinterest to find where our inspiration and tutorials came from :)

We had play tea sets from Granny's house, and serving dishes from my office. It was an amazing day, they're a great group of girls!

M.I.A

Missing in (blog) action.
I was giving way to thoughts that I might stop Blogging.
No posts do not mean no productivity, just that I haven't been sharing.
I signed up for two of May Flaums online classes, haven't started either, but that will meant posts are on the way.

Before my departure from blogging I was entering challenges and contests, I stopped doing those too.
We have been enjoying our Summer, but no scrap time. I have made a few cards, knitting, minor sewing projects, house projects, road trips etc.
and the biggun, finishing my studio enough to post. I feel it will be ongoing project, and never really finished, but I do feel it's 'there' enough to post. It's coming to the blog, I promise.

Until then, what has been filling your time?

All about the Coral

Another post! Oh my!

Simon Says Stamp Monday a Challenge blog is doing a coral challenge this week.

This tag is special to me, I made it while thinking about a dear friend.

Enjoy!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday -sentiments

Hey All,
I'm back into keeping my blog chugging along. I'm always creating, but not always sharing. Playing along with challenges encourage my creating in a different way.

The difference between challenges and my standard card making of late is the freedom. I'm not making them for anyone but me, I love the messy look of these tags. Imperfections and all.

This week's Wednesday challenge at Simon Says Stamp is Sentiments. They were focusing on Tim Holtz sentiments, and I'm fortunate enough to have some.
The tags I used were mop up tags from my desk, I just added more distress ink and went from there.

Want to play along too?

Take 2: Pocket Letter

Another Pocket letter has reached its new home!
As I posted before, I made 5 and forgot to photograph. Super dummy move.

This on was different from the rest in style, as it reflected the recipient.

I'm a day away from missing out on Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, another Anything Goes, excellent.

INSD2015

Whoop Scrapbook day!
Whatcha making today?
I'm sitting in my 95% done scrap room making tiny tassels for kindergarten graduation cards.
Planning on packing for a retreat in a couple weeks.
And watching hubby put down the last of the baseboards.
Fun stuff.
Really got to get my stuff put away in here.
Kids are away, I've all day to spend in here.
I think Mother's Day came early.

Pocket Letters part 1

Hey all,
I recently participated in a Pocket Letter swap, and forgot to take any photos.
What a dummy.

Thankfully the recipients will send me a snap as they reach their destinations.
The first to arrive was this one. I had the tag showing on the back photo on the outside with a large gold doily and bakers twine.

I am really excited to get the ones headed my way.

Sneaky peeky

So I did last weeks Wednesday challenge for Simon Says Stamp, wrote the post, then didn't photograph or post.
Am I all tore up over it?
Not really. I can pick up and do the next challenge. My goal to create more is still happening.

Guess what else is, my scrap room seems to be taking For-Ev-er.
Worth it.

Some of you will know what this is by the sneak.
Can't wait to show off the full project when finished.
Enjoy!

Middle of a Monday

Monday has become a bit brighter since I started scrappy challenges again.
Or it could be that my Hubby is here to help get the kids to school.
Either way.

While he is home, he is working on finishing my scrap room. So we are right in the middle of that. Especially since I moved stuff in before it was completed, big mess.

I am also in the middle of a big stack of graduation cards. I had slathered paste on a card front blank and forgot about it. Then found it in my mess.

I think I will link it up to Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.
Wanna join me?

Enjoy!

Spring flowers...

Is it really Spring? Because we had snow yesterday.
April Showers and/or May Flowers is this weeks theme at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog.

My tag seems a bit dark for Spring, but fitting since it feels like that here too.

A is for Simon?

I've forgotten the days of the week. Working from home and school break tends to do that.

I missed Monday. The Monday Challenge blog at Simon Says Stamp.
This week it is "a is for...", I can do that!

For me, A is for Athropods.
Yes.

I bought some trilobite stencils by The Crafter's Workshop, and they are perfect for our summer adventure photos. Newfoundland has places to get glimpses of fossils, and since D could speak he has said he wants to be an archeologist. This PL card will go great in my album.

Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes, well okay then.

Hey,
I know I said I was back, and then I didn't blog. Not good. Sorry about that.

On the good side, I'm working from my new office, but still not set up. So no reveal yet.

I'm trying to get back to entering challenges, and what better way than an anything goes one!
Excellent.

I was playing with some Tim Holtz stamps that had yet to find a home, and whipped up two of these cards. I only snapped a photo of one, since they're the same.
I'm really pleased with the look of the card. So yup, I'm entering it at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog!

Now if only I knew how to embed links from my phone...

Messy Desks

Hey all,
I know I said I wasn't moving in until my office was finished, but sometimes ya just gotta work.
Not ready for a full reveal yet. Here's a snap of one of my new work spaces.

I think I hear the kitten playing on top of the drop ceiling again. Uh-oh. 😄

Keeping busy.

Hey All,

I've been quiet again.
But, I've been busy.

I'm knitting 2015 Christmas presents.
Seriously.
No joke.
I have plans of grandeur :)

AND

I'm getting ready to move into my office studio.
Super excited.

Finishing a piece of furniture has taken me longer than anticipated.
I was amazed by the amount of progress DH made on his week off.
A week off to work on my room.
What a man.

Enjoy!

Treasure

Missy B and I had discussed having these great little treasure chests as part of her party decor.

Warren helped me get all the shells glued on and I sprayed to my hearts content.

I cannot believe this is the only photo I took!
What a dummy.

At least the birthday girl loved them.
Enjoy!

Mermaids Fathoms Below

Getting ready for Miss B's mermaid birthday party has kept me busy.
Not going with all the fancy stuff I've seen on Pinterest, but enough.

I've fallen in love with gold spray paint and I think it's showing. I sprayed piles of corrugated cardboard. So it may literally be showing on my new (still wip) craft room floor.

Her invites were cute if I do say so myself.

More to come...

Enjoy!

Welcome 2015
