T. A. R. D. I. S.

Time - And - Relative - Dimension - In - School....what?

(I know it's space, shhh. Play along).

We like to decorate the plastic pencil cases for the year with a fun name tag. Domonik is headed to school with a fabric one, so we didn't do his this year.

Bella wanted the TARDIS.
Sure.
How was I going to do that?
I had used Cyberdrone (this site) for the paper TARDIS and Dalek for Domonik at the end of the year.
The artist at it is a genius, and much better at computerey stuff.
I figured I could just print it bigger and glue it on.
My printer however, had different ideas.
It printed it in periwinkle.
Not good.

I busted out some grass cloth textured paper in TARDIS blue, a couple trusty blue ink pads and my trimmer.

I still used the windows and signage from the printable.
If I could find one of my silver pens we'd be set. But finished for now!

Enjoy!

Card Frenzy

It's no secret I make a lot of cards, I just don't always share them.
Here's a sampling of some of my newest creations.
I tend to make similar cards in batches, then when they are all mixed together they vary.
I used to make a lot of identical cards, but now, not so much.

CCC August Blog Hop: Back to School

Welcome to my stop on the Catherine and Cathy Create Back to School Blog Hop!

You should have come from Megin Gallagher's blog if you are following in order.

It's getting closer, the kids are heading back to school soon!

I've enjoyed being home with them this summer. When they go to school, I'm going to look for a new job. So before I do I am crafting up a storm.

I like to make presents for the teachers at the beginning of the year that can serve as a year long memory saver. A place to jot down funny things that the class did, or the pictures taken in school. Last year I made an envelope book each. This year I was thinking apples.

Using cherry cobbler ink on whisper white card stock I created lids and exploding box bases. Smooshing ink on my craft mat I gave the paper a bit of colouring, then added stamped images in Bravo Burgundy.

The inside is only slightly embellished as I won't know their teachers names  until the day before school starts, or even the first day. I want to personalize them when I find out.

Now you are off to the last stop on the hop, Cathy Caines' blog.

Hope you've enjoyed the great projects by all the designers.

CCC #002

Let me first say I am super excited about being part of the Catherine and Cathy Create Design Team. Way to go ladies, so proud of you both and the journey you've begun.

My family have a lot of get togethers (and theme parties), so this month "let's PARTY!" Theme is right up my alley! Who needs to have a reason to party? Just have one ;)

My first tag is using the make a monster stamp set. The kids and I agree this is a super fun one.

I stamped the images on watercolour paper with Staz-On in jet black. Then used an Aqua Painter brush to colour in.

Fussy cutting can be tedious, but absolutely worth it.

My glue of choice for the tag was Crystal Effects, which was great for adhering and making those monster eyes shine.

All at once

*Crop Circles spoiler* don't want to ruin sbd reveal? Stop where you are and bookmark for later!

Blogging beside these flowers from my garden,
and a homework completing Missy B.

I know, I know, I haven't been blogging.

With being busy, yard sale preparation, and a stomach bug, I haven't sat with coffee in hand to type an entry.

That doesn't mean I haven't been working on projects...

I made three yoga may bags (similar to this post) for sale.

I am working on simple mini albums to sell.
They will range in style in price,
but I have yet to complete a full one (or take photos).
Y'all know I work in stages.

The Crop Circles "same but different" hosted by Kymberly.
I based mine on the lovely work of Prima Artist Finnabair.

To make this I simply kept layering and adding pieces until it felt right.
Once I was happy with the arrangement, I gave it all a coat of Gesso.

The seed beads look fantastic, but were a royal pain in the neck.

Once I let the Gesso dry (normally I heat gun to dry, but let it air dry this time) I added Ranger Distress inks and stain, Tattered Angels mists, and Smooch spritz. I blended and brushed the sprays, and even poured it on instead of spritzing in some spots.

This project is great for those misters that have barely enough liquid left to spray, but too precious to toss in the trash.

My sewing machine has also been incredibly busy.
 Aprons for the kindergarten concert,

clutch wallets (similar to these, from this pin with alterations),

and Christmas stockings.

Have you seen Tim Holtz's Eclectic Elements?
Oh my. I want it all!
Can you imagine the purses, yoga bags, skirts, stockings, tree skirts, mini albums ...

I still have another day to clean
and create before it's time to go to work again.
Hope you had a great long weekend.

Enjoy!

Handmade presents!

I love getting handmade presents!
Giving them however is a different story. I feel as though they won't be enough or of the value that a gift should be.
This year my friend Alison had a special birthday (I'm not telling the number) and said her present from me had to be handmade.
So I stayed up all night and made the yellow bag in the first 2 photos (sorry, phone posting). Warren wasn't as impressed as I was with my colour choices.
I found a different fabric, and in 2.5 hours I had the finished project with a day to spare. She loved the orange bag, and said she would have liked what is now known affectionately as "the ugly yellow bag".
I plan to whip some up to sell in the coffee shop, or online, who knows.
Enjoy!
